Protip: If you've got a cat you need to leave outside with some food, check this out. To make sure ants don't get in the bowl you need two pieces of tape that can each wrap around the bowl. Overlap them (so their sticky sides stick to each other) and then stick one of the sticky sides to the bowl. If you've done this write the other sticky side should be facing outwards and will stop ants, literally, in their tracks.
